Clinical Supervision

Reflective, person-centred supervision that honours your experience and supports your growth as a practitioner.

A seasoned presence in the field

I am registered with both PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) and ACSA (Australian Clinical Supervision Association), and I bring over thirty years of experience as a practitioner, educator and supervisor to this work.

I have taught and supervised students in postgraduate programs at Deakin University, Monash University, the University of New England, Australian College of Applied Psychology and The Cairnmillar Institute. I have also co-facilitated PACFA endorsed Professional Development workshops for Counselling Supervisors since 2016.

My approach to supervision is the same as my approach to therapy: grounded in genuine relationship, deep listening and profound respect for each person's unique journey as a practitioner.

I offer supervision to both trainee counsellors and psychotherapists working towards professional registration, and to experienced practitioners seeking ongoing reflective practice support.

Supervision is available for

  • Trainee counsellors and psychotherapists
  • Experienced practitioners seeking reflective support
  • Those working towards PACFA or ACA registration
  • Social workers and allied health practitioners
  • Expressive and creative arts therapists
  • School counsellors and wellbeing practitioners
A warm, reflective supervision setting

Supervision as a reflective, relational practice

I am fundamentally person-centred in my approach to supervision, as I am in therapy. I bring the same warmth, attentiveness and respect to the supervisory relationship that I bring to all my professional work. Supervision, in my experience, is most nourishing and most effective when it feels safe enough to be honest, uncertain and exploratory.

My supervision draws on a range of frameworks and approaches, woven together in response to each supervisee's needs and practice context. These include reflective practice, relational neuroscience, attachment theory and, where appropriate, expressive and creative approaches to case conceptualisation and self-reflection.

I am particularly experienced in supervising practitioners who work with trauma, grief, children and young people, and creative or expressive therapy approaches.

“Good supervision is not about telling someone how to do their job. It is about creating the conditions in which a practitioner can think clearly, feel supported and grow in wisdom.”

What supervision sessions involve

Each supervision session is shaped by what you bring. Here is a sense of what we might explore together.

Reflective discussion of client work, including complex or challenging cases

Exploration of the therapeutic relationship, including transference and countertransference

Attention to your own wellbeing and the impact of the work on you

Ethical and professional practice considerations

Your ongoing professional development and learning edges

Creative and expressive approaches to case reflection where helpful

One to one, in depth

Individual supervision offers dedicated, uninterrupted space for your practice. Sessions are typically fifty minutes and can be held face to face in Inverloch or online via video call.

I recommend fortnightly supervision for most practitioners, though frequency can be adjusted to suit your needs, your caseload and your registration requirements.

I am available for individual supervision on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Inverloch, with online availability across the week.

Learning alongside peers

Group supervision offers a rich opportunity to learn from and with others who share the challenges and rewards of therapeutic practice. The group becomes a community of reflection, where diverse perspectives deepen everyone's understanding.

I currently offer group supervision on Thursday mornings, and I am planning Self-Care and Supervision days as an additional offering for practitioners who want an extended space for reflection and renewal.

If you are interested in joining a group, please get in touch to find out about current availability and upcoming dates.
